Summer Worship Theme
A Summer of Parables
This summer we are pairing up our normal lectionary Bible Readings with some of the parables that Jesus used to teach His disciples about the Kingdom of God. Christians today confess that there are two kingdoms at hand as expressed by God in the Scriptures, the Kingdom of the Left and the Kingdom of the Right.
The Left Hand Kingdom is the realm of the governing authorities here on earth, given by God to promote law and order among humans. The Right Hand Kingdom is the realm of God's grace and glory, centered in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins.
In the Right Hand Kingdom the Christian Church and Christians in general are given to be salt and light in this world, witnesses to God's Kingdom of grace and mercy, and that cannot necessarily be seen by the human eye. Christians pray that the LORD will forever lead governing authorities (Left Hand Kingdom) to keep the peace, law and order, so that Christians (Right Hand Kingdom) can do their best work as followers of the Lord Jesus Christ.
